A passport is required for entry to the Bahamas (bring your passport to be on the safe side), and an outbound (return) ticket must also be presented to Bahamian Customs before you will be permitted entry.
S dollars are accepted in Bimini.
The Bahamas uses the Area Code 242. The local phone system is useable, but not up to par with Canada and the USA. Calls from hotel rooms are usually very expensive, it's recommended to use lobby payphones or concierge services when making local reservations or a local cell phone or SIM card.
Casual resort wear, including shorts and T-shirts, is the standard daytime attire for most cruises. Bring a variety of footwear, including low-heeled or rubber-soled shoes for walking on deck, sandals for beach excursions, sturdy walking shoes for guided tours and a pair of dressier shoes for formal dining. You can check your ship's dress codes for options suitable for nighttime, but most restaurants encourage slacks and nice dresses during evening meals.
Many of the hotels in the Bahamas have air conditioning. If recycled air is important to you, make sure to consult your travel counselor before booking a pre- or post-cruise hotel stay.
